Feeding

On social media there is always discussion about the best substrate for Corydoradinae and many will argue the gravel substrate they use is perfect and their Corys love it. However, the ideal substrate and the one that enabled Corys to feed naturally is a fine smooth grained sand. The reason being that these fish in the main filter feed, they take up mouthfuls of sand and filter out any eddible particles, ejecting the unwanted sand through the base of their gill covers.
